Last year the road out there was clear. This year it was definitely closed. It all depends on the year but you can bet that there will be snow out there sometime every March. (We had three inches of snow on May 24th.)

Lynn,
Do you know how the conditions are in central Utah as of the middle of March?
I am planning a trip to the Maze, Escalante, Capitol Reef and the San Rafael swell lasting a couple weeks from March 12 on.
I was told by the npps that Hans flat is closed due to snow but I was there at this time last year and there was no snow.
Any help would be awesome.
Thanks

There is still a LOT of snow in that area of Utah. In fact, the storm that moved through there on Friday dumped even more snow.

I would be very surprised if you could get into the Maze before the end of March, except by snowmobile. (hehe)

Hi Lynn,

Just got finished going through EVERY photograph in your EVERY town archive. I feel positively noble now, having pressed a computer button, oh, at least 300 times, right??

You are amazing to have actually traveled to each of these sites. Well done! Beautiful photographs--you make ordinary things seem extraordinary. That is the gift of the artist's eye.

Question: I'm very interested in the abandoned historic schools that still stand in Utah. I noticed you did a great job of ferreting out some great examples.

If you are aware of any that did not make your site--I would be very interested in seeing/knowing about these. I'm not coming up with a clearinghouse for these sites since a number of them haven't been designated as National Historic Sites.

Great site!
