Ernie’s Canyon and Iron Wash in the San Rafael Swell

Saturday, February 17th was the beginning on a three day weekend and the weather was still warm and dry. I headed south for the day in order to fly my DJI Mavic Pro drone over Ernie’s Canyon and Iron Wash, on the east rim of the San Rafael Swell.

After packing up my drone, I explored nearby canyons and managed to get my Dodge Ram pickup stuck. I was high centered on a gravel bank and it took about a hour of jacking and digging in order to get myself out. (The picture was taken after it was mostly dug out.)

That would have been embarrassing if anyone had seen me in that situation. I guess it’s good to know what the limits are.
