Somehow, I had this idea that I wanted to see the rest of Spirit Arch that could barely be seen from the bottom of Shinob Canyon in Capital Reef National Park. So David and I loaded up the Explorer and headed to the park.

After a few quick pictures of Cassidy Arch in Grand Wash….

…. and of the much smaller Class D arch called Grand Wash Arch….

…. we headed up a side canyon called Bear Canyon. There we managed to pick our way up the cliffs on a faint trail. However, once on top, we were exhausted and it was obvious that the hike around the top of Bear Canyon to Shinob Canyon was beyond our strength and our available daylight.

Oh, well the view was great.
