David and I climb up to Camelhead Arch in the San Rafael Swell area. It is an exhausting hike and climb. A couple of years later we discover that it really wasn’t Camelhead Arch but Tip Top Arch. So where is Camelhead Arch?
Arches and ruins
While exploring the back country of southern Canyonlands National Park, hidden on a cliff, I find a small arch with Indian dwelling built around it. Camping at Calf Creek
I take my wife, son and two daughters camping at Calf Creek near Escalante. This gives me a chance to do some Arch Hunting nearby while they entertain themselves at the campground. We like to plop lawn chairs in the creek and read paperback books while the girls swim in a make shift swimming hole. […]
Lake Powell Expedition #1

Where is your rope?
David and I hike to Jacob Hamblin Arch in Coyote Gulch, part of the Escalante Canyon complex. Instead of hiking up or down Coyote Gulch, we hike overland from the south and drop down a dangerous rock incline just east of Jacob Hamblin Arch. This area is wondrous! We hike down stream and visit Coyote […]
