It has been a very dry and warm winter here in the West. We are beginning to worry that the Texas/Oklahoma/Colorado drought is spreading into Utah.

David and I took advantage of the situation and headed to the area southeast of Hanksville Utah on Saturday morning.

We wanted to explore the northwest rim overlooking Poison Springs Canyon and southwest of the Dirty Devil River.

We found that the furthest east we could drive was called Burr Point and offered a fantastic view of the area.

We even tried to descend into the lower Burt Mesa area but found the jeep trail to be unreasonable so we gave up half way down the dug way.

Winter days are short so we were soon looking at the sunset which usually means it is time to head for home again.

It was a good day in the sun and rocks of southern Utah.
