It was late June and the snow had melted in the high country enough to allow the paved roads to open. My wife and I decided to take the day to drive up the Mirror Lake Highway (highway 191) from Kamas Utah, and visit Upper Provo River Falls.

The day was nice and sunny. At the high elevations that meant that it was warm enough in shirt sleeves unless there was a breeze.

The Upper Provo River Falls is right next to the highway so no hiking was necessary. The Provo River was only running a little high from the snow runoff.

We wandered around the few open roads which allowed me to take pictures of some of the wildflowers that dared show their blooms so early.

(I am including this post just to prove that I don’t spend all my recreation time in the desert.)
